Matthew Wang is an award-winning film and television composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and music editor based in New York.

Born and raised in New York City, Matthew graduated from the NYU Tisch Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in 2018.

Constantly exploring innovative ways to evoke human emotion through manipulated sound, Wang draws from his roots in pop songwriting, electronic production, and sound design to craft inventive scores and soundscapes across genres.

His composing credits include contributing additional music to NBC’s Young Rock and New Amsterdam, Showtime’s Yellowjackets, Hulu’s Shrill, Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia and GLOW, HBO’s Mrs. Fletcher, and Universal’s 2025 version of War Of The Worlds. He is the composer of the feature thriller Centigrade (IFC Midnight), the latest 2 Emmy-nominated Reno 911! television movies (co-composed with Craig Wedren), the IIFA Digital Award-winning Netflix documentary Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous, and acclaimed documentaries Jeronimo and Chosen. He also contributed songs to the 2025 Children’s & Family Emmy-winning Nickelodeon series Well-Versed and scored the HMMA award-winning animated short HeadNoise, executive-produced by Shaquille O'Neal.

As a music editor, Wang has worked with composers Mark Mothersbaugh and Jeff Cardoni on Apple TV+’s Hello Tomorrow!, Netflix’s Tiger King Season 2, and Netflix’s Free Bert.

Inspired by narrative storytelling and the emotive power of ambient sound, often incorporating field recordings from his native New York City, Wang approaches scoring through what he calls “method composing”: prioritizing sonic solutions that mirror character psychology before traditional harmony or structure.
